Prior to joining Chair of Education Systems, Audrey Au Yong Lyn completed her Ph.D. in Economics at the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich), and was also affiliated with the Ifo Institute for Economic Research in Germany. During this time, her research focused on development, gender and demographic economics, which specifically examined issues related to child marriage, adolescent fertility, intra-household decision making and intimate partner violence (IPV). Audrey was also previously a visiting research fellow at the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), and completed her Masters in Economics at McGill University in Canada.

At Chair of Education Systems, Audrey conducts independent research that lies at the intersection of education, gender and development. She also works closely with Dr. Thomas Bolli, and is primarily involved in projects that focus on vocational education programs in Switzerland.

Currently, Audrey is working on a project with the IBBG (The Swiss Association of Vocational Training for Clothing Designers), which compares labor market outcomes across various fashion-related apprenticeships. She is also conducting research on the effects of part-time and distance learning on future labor market outcomes, with a particular focus on individuals who have completed vocational baccalaureate schooling.
