A Strong Start for CEMETS 2025

The first CEMETS Summer Institute of 2025 brought together international teams to explore vocational education reform through expert input, case work, and Swiss best practices — all in one inspiring week in Zürich.

What a week!

The first CEMETS Summer Institute in Zurich has come to a close.

Throughout the week, we explored how strong vocational education systems are built and sustained. From deep dive lectures on labor markets, quality assurance, education employment linkages, and firm incentives to case workshops with teams from South Africa, Kyrgyzstan, Nepal, and the United States, the institute was packed with meaningful exchange and applied learning.

We had the chance to learn directly from apprentices and education leaders from Swisscom, Coop, libs, CYP, and Rausch, each one demonstrating how learner centered, employer engaged models create real world impact.

There were many highlights:

  • Keynotes from leaders like Eric Bettinger, Arthur Glättli, Christoph Buser, and Noel Ginsburg
  • Valuable system insights from global education reformers
  • Hands-on input from Swiss companies and their apprentices
  • Cross-team collaboration and shared commitment to reform

A huge thank you to all participants, speakers, and our core team for making this first institute a success.

We’re already looking forward to welcoming the next teams soon!
