Second CEMETS Summer Institute Welcomes a New Wave of Global Reformers to Zurich

Two weeks after the first edition, a new group of global reformers returned to Zurich to tackle vocational education challenges through research, dialogue, and real-world insight.

The second CEMETS Summer Institute of the season has just concluded in Zurich.

Two weeks after welcoming our first round of reformers, we gathered again. This time with new teams, new perspectives, and the same shared commitment to building stronger education systems.

Throughout the week, we examined how vocational and professional education can be designed to serve learners, employers, and economies alike. Guided by lectures on firm behavior, curriculum structures, labor markets, and system quality, participants worked intensively on reform strategies tailored to their national contexts.

Teams from Colorado, Serbia, Ukraine, Costa Rica, Nepal, Uzbekistan, and the USA National delegation brought real reform challenges into the room—making space for rich discussion, cross-country learning, and peer feedback.

Site visits to Swisscom, CYP, and the Baselland Chamber of Commerce offered direct insight into how Swiss VET works in practice—where apprentices are empowered to learn through meaningful, employer-driven experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to our speakers, participants, apprentices, and organizing team for making this second institute a week of thoughtful dialogue and tangible progress.

We look forward to continuing this global reform journey with strong partners and committed Reform Rockstars by our side.
